The author
Hello, I'm Rodrigo.
Most buddies call me Galindez, but my friends, just Rod. I've always managed to hate my name, but now I'm starting to like it. It was just a matter of time, I guess.
I was born and raised in the northern corner of Argentina, Jujuy, but now I'm living in Córdoba, a beautiful, bustling city full of students and amazing places and attractions.
I'm 28 years old.
The Old Fashioned
You are viewing a reincarnation of a five year old blog.
I started blogging back in 2004, when not much people knew about it actually. I've had times of not blogging at all, mostly due to my work, but now it just feels like the right time to be back in the road again.
I write about typography, web development and graphic design in general.
This site runs a custom installation of Wordpress, and was designed using Apple hardware, more specifically, a Macbook plugged to a 20'' Cinema Display. I made the switch to Apple computers about 4 years ago, and certainly, it was one of the best decisions in my life.
The work
I'm a web designer, author and more recently, university professor.
Back in 2004, I quit my job as webmaster in CEDHA and found a tiny, one-man web design studio. The company designs and implements applications and interfaces using web standards. Most clients are from the US and UK. It's called SimpleLogic Interactive Design. I've found out that since clients deal basically with me, it doesn't really matter my studio's name. So since last year I began to work under my own name.
Besides design, I also write about web development in Argentina's most distributed IT magazine, Users. Have a peek at my recent published articles.
Last year, I taught web design to graduate students of graphic design and related careers. These classes were part of a one year degree in Web Design, backed by the Siglo 21 University. I've discovered that I love to teach; the classroom is an excellent place to share and discuss ideas on what we love to do: design.
Finally, I like to share what I know about web development and the interwebs in general in seminars and events. I've been lucky enough to get invited to talk in Buenos Aires, Córdoba and Jujuy.
